Collection: Antique Check Wire Flowers
Check wire was used to plant corn between 1870 and 1950. It is a special type of wire that has knots spaced apart evenly to trip the planter to drop the seed. This allowed farmers to plant in a "check row" pattern, giving them the opportunity to cultivate from both directions for weed removal before the days of chemical weed control. These flowers are made from very old check wire with seat and mattress spring centers. They are rusty flowers. Exceptionally limited, as I have only found a few rolls of check wire ever. If you are looking for a very rare piece of art that has a story to tell, this is the one for you.
